click to enlarge Web 2.0 is a term describing the use of web technology and web design to enhance creativity, information sharing and collaboration among users. The idea took off in 2004 and although it refers to a new version of the World Wide Web which does not imply any updates in the previous technologies, but changes the way of software developers and end-users use the Web.

Although a good idea in theory, it seems that Web 2.0 technologies have caused problems for web sites such as Google, TechCrunch, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Salesforce.

Many of those web sites were sent blank pages, and are vulnerable to outages, meaning that users can not connect to the page, or the page is unavailable.

Problems that occurred and the lack of many start-ups adequate infrastructure and stable code give us reasons to believe that Web 2.0 is not reliable. Overall, the problems will probably only get worst since outrage associated with downtime will increase proportionally as the user base for the start-ups grows.
