The 2.5 inch drive, handle a double capacity comparing with the 1.8 inch SSD on IDE interface.Those are the ideal for laptops at a very low usage.
Those kind of drives, looks like they are doubling the space from an year to another, and the cost per GB goes down with 1/3 in the same time.
The SSD (solid-state drive) has a lower transfer rate between 10 and 67 MB per second, but brings a big advantage in a low consuming energy of the rechargeable battery being only at 0.4 watts.
Anyway there are some biggest problems, one of them being the boot one. Many of actual mother boards are not capable to start Windows or other operating system from a device connected to a USB port.
