Who will be left to die in a pandemic?
Who will be left to die in a pandemic?
So when it comes to choosing, who will be left to die in a pandemic?
Well, members for the Department of Homeland Security, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services, and even members from prestigious universities, have put together a list containing the people that will be deprived of medical care in the case of a pandemic.
Those people are:
- People older than 85
- Those with severe trauma, which could include critical injuries from car crashes and gun shots
- Severely burned patients older than 60
- Those with severe mental impairment, which could include advanced Alzheimer's disease
- Those with a severe chronic disease, such as advanced heart failure, lung disease or poorly controlled diabetes
As if things weren't bad enough, in order to prepare for such a disaster, hospitals should put together a team that will decide who will receive medical treatment and who won't.
