Made from 7 beryllium segments, as dimension is 7 times larger than Hubble's mirror, and has 25 a square meters area.
This way of building a mirror so large, has been approach because if being built on Earth, it doesn't fit into a spacecraft to be transported into space. Every piece can move individually, and if there appears any problems, the scientist can make rectifications in space.
The material from which is built, it allows to resist to higher temperatures than oldest ones and has the capacity to retrieve images 9 times faster. In the same time if we calculate the weight of this mirror, at one meter to one proportion, it has half from oldest ones weight.
Like a photo camera, as the mirror is higher the far can see. Based on this, surely we can do new discoveries about space taking in consideration the distance that can reach.
The JWST satellite which will hold the mirror, will be launched in year 2013.

Phoenix is in the far north of Mars
Good news from NASA: it seems that Phoenix, the space ship sent to help research various aspects from Mars has reached its destination and landed safely. The landing itself is a big success since from the 13 spacecrafts that attempted landing on Mars before, only 5 have succeeded. Now Phoenix is ...

Chances to be hit by asteroids greater than expected
Until recently it was thought that the chances for big space rocks to hit Earth are about one at a million, but a recent study lead by a Columbia University geophysicist named Dallas Abbott indicates that those odds may not be correct. Geologists have considered that cannot be calculate the numbe ...

New research on black holes shakes Einstein's theories
In his theory of relativity, Einstein claims that the black holes are so powerful so they can bend space and time, and they've condensed so much matter and energy into a single point that they could suck in forever anything nearby, including light. The problem with this idea it comes against the qua ...
